Engineered for environments where low-frequency management is critical, Techlite® 3-Point Wedge Acoustic Panels in Obsidian™ combine bold architectural geometry with measurable acoustic performance. Available in 4", 6", 8", 12", and custom thicknesses, these wedges provide flexible acoustic solutions for a wide range of interior applications. For architects, they offer confidence in specifying performance-driven acoustic treatments; for interior designers, they introduce visual depth and dimensional interest; and for sound engineers, they deliver proven sound absorption backed by recognized testing standards.

The 6" thick configuration delivers exceptional broadband absorption with low-frequency performance that stands apart. Tested in accordance with ASTM C423-17, Standard Test Method for Sound Absorption and Sound Absorption Coefficients by the Reverberation Room Method, the 6" wedge profile achieves a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of 1.25 and demonstrates 58% absorption at 125 Hz. This performance makes it particularly effective for controlling bass buildup and reverberation in studios, theaters, conference facilities, educational spaces, and other interior environments where speech intelligibility and tonal balance are essential. Acoustic performance will vary based on panel thickness and installation conditions.

Manufactured utilizing Basotect® EcoBalanced melamine foam, these panels provide lightweight installation, dimensional stability, and long-term acoustic reliability. The material is Class A fire-rated per ASTM E84, supporting life-safety requirements in commercial interiors. Additionally, Basotect® EcoBalanced melamine foam may contribute toward LEED credits through environmental transparency, low emissions, and responsible material sourcing.

Obsidian™ Coloration & Visual Character

Obsidian™ is a deep, dark charcoal acoustic foam with subtle blue undertones. Depending on lighting conditions, it can range from a rich charcoal gray to a dark navy hue—and when installed in high ceilings or low-light environments, it presents as visually black.

The result is an acoustic material that integrates seamlessly into contemporary architecture while delivering the performance Techlite® is known for. For applications requiring an ultimate, rich black appearance, Obsidian™ panels may be coated utilizing Techlite®’s proprietary paint system.
