Designed for spaces where form, performance, and safety must coexist, Techlite® Pyramid Panels in Obsidian deliver high-level sound control without compromising architectural intent. Manufactured by Techlite® utilizing Basotect® EcoBalanced melamine foam, these panels combine advanced acoustic performance with a reduced carbon footprint—bringing sustainability and precision together in one refined architectural solution.
The sculpted pyramid geometry introduces depth, rhythm, and shadow—transforming acoustic treatment into a deliberate design element rather than a visual afterthought.
As contemporary interiors increasingly favor glass, concrete, steel, and other reflective finishes, managing sound becomes essential to occupant comfort. Without thoughtful acoustic integration, these surfaces can elevate noise levels, reduce speech intelligibility, and diminish the usability of otherwise well-designed spaces. Techlite® Pyramid Panels provide an elegant solution—absorbing sound while reinforcing the visual language of modern architecture.
Fabricated utilizing Basotect® EcoBalanced melamine foam, Pyramid Panels in the Obsidian color offer exceptional acoustic performance, inherent fire resistance, and low smoke development—without surface-applied fire retardants or fibrous fillers. The thermoset melamine structure delivers consistent performance throughout the material, while the refined dark aesthetic minimizes visual clutter and complements lighting strategies, ceiling planes, and contemporary material palettes.
Obsidian Coloration & Visual CharacterObsidian is a deep, dark charcoal acoustic foam with subtle blue undertones. Depending on lighting conditions, it can range from a rich charcoal gray to a dark navy hue—and when installed in high ceilings or low-light environments, it presents as visually black. The result is an acoustic material that integrates seamlessly into contemporary architecture while delivering the performance Techlite® is known for. For applications requiring an ultimate, rich black appearance, Obsidian panels may be coated utilizing Techlite®’s proprietary paint system. Available in 2″, 3″, and 4″ thicknesses (with custom sizes available), Techlite® Pyramid Panels may be wall-mounted or ceiling-suspended to suit a wide range of spatial and aesthetic requirements. At 4″ thickness, the panels achieve full absorption across speech-critical frequencies, enhancing clarity and comfort in open offices, conference rooms, studios, learning environments, and hospitality interiors. For additional low-frequency control, panels can be installed using a tracked wall system to introduce a concealed air gap. [Pictured Right: Obsidian foam color under various interior lighting] |
