Contoured Linear Acoustic Baffles - Obsidian

Techlite® Contoured Linear Baffles in Obsidian are engineered for interior ceiling applications where acoustic control must align with architectural form. The sculpted contour introduces fluid movement across open ceiling planes, reducing visual rigidity while increasing exposed absorptive surface area. Manufactured utilizing Basotect® Ecobalanced Melamine Foam, these baffles combine lightweight construction with high sound absorption efficiency. The material is Class A fire-rated per ASTM E 84, supporting code compliance in commercial and institutional interiors. Its environmentally responsible formulation may contribute toward LEED credits in categories such as low-emitting materials and sustainable material transparency.

Techlite® Contoured Linear Baffles can be fabricated up to 8′ long and 4′ wide; however, the standard size measures 12″ (1′) x 96″ (8′) at 2″ thick. This dimensional flexibility allows design teams to tailor ceiling layouts to project scale—whether defining circulation zones, creating acoustic clouds, or integrating between lighting and mechanical systems. Obsidian Coloration & Visual Character Obsidian is a deep, dark charcoal acoustic foam with subtle blue undertones. Depending on lighting conditions, it can range from a rich charcoal gray to a dark navy hue—and when installed in high ceilings or low-light environments, it presents as visually black. The result is an acoustic material that integrates seamlessly into contemporary architecture while delivering the performance Techlite® is known for. For applications requiring an ultimate, rich black appearance, Obsidian panels may be coated utilizing Techlite®’s proprietary paint system.
