The TECHLITE® Designer Montage Acoustic Panel in Obsidian transforms acoustic treatment into a curated design feature. Composed of interlocking geometric forms, the Montage configuration introduces depth, layering, and spatial articulation across interior surfaces. For architects developing strong visual identities, interior designers refining material palettes, and sound engineers targeting controlled reverberation, this panel system offers both aesthetic versatility and acoustic precision.
Engineered utilizing Basotect® Ecobalanced Melamine Foam, the Montage panel system provides superior broadband absorption while maintaining an exceptionally lightweight structure for interior wall and ceiling installations. Its open-cell matrix enhances speech intelligibility, reduces reflected sound energy, and stabilizes acoustic environments in offices, hospitality venues, educational facilities, and cultural interiors. The material is inherently flame resistant and achieves Class A fire-rated performance per ASTM E 84, meeting stringent interior life-safety requirements.
Beyond its performance characteristics, the TECHLITE® Designer Montage Acoustic Panel supports environmentally responsible specification strategies. Basotect® Ecobalanced Melamine Foam incorporates a reduced carbon footprint approach and may assist with LEED-related credit categories, including low-emitting materials and sustainable sourcing considerations. This alignment of environmental stewardship and acoustic engineering allows project teams to meet both performance benchmarks and sustainability objectives without compromise.
Obsidian Coloration & Visual CharacterObsidian is a deep, dark charcoal acoustic foam with subtle blue undertones. Depending on lighting conditions, it can range from a rich charcoal gray to a dark navy hue—and when installed in high ceilings or low-light environments, it presents as visually black. The result is an acoustic material that integrates seamlessly into contemporary architecture while delivering the performance Techlite® is known for. For applications requiring an ultimate, rich black appearance, Obsidian panels may be coated utilizing Techlite®’s proprietary paint system.
