The TECHLITE® Designer Starburst Acoustic Panel in Obsidian delivers a striking radial composition that transforms acoustic treatment into a focal architectural feature. Its dynamic, outward-reaching geometry creates visual energy across walls and ceilings, enabling architects and interior designers to establish statement surfaces without sacrificing acoustic control. For sound engineers, the varied angles and dimensional relief increase sound-wave interaction, helping to regulate reverberation and enhance speech articulation.
Engineered utilizing Basotect® Ecobalanced Melamine Foam, the Starburst panel provides dependable broadband absorption in a lightweight, precision-fabricated format intended exclusively for interior applications. The open-cell matrix mitigates reflected sound, supports occupant comfort, and refines acoustic balance in corporate environments, hospitality interiors, education spaces, and performance-driven settings. The material is inherently flame resistant and achieves Class A fire-rated performance per ASTM E 84, supporting life-safety compliance in interior design.
From a sustainability standpoint, TECHLITE® Designer Starburst Panels align with responsible specification strategies. Basotect® Ecobalanced Melamine Foam incorporates a reduced carbon footprint manufacturing approach and may contribute toward LEED-related credits, including low-emitting materials and environmentally conscious material selection. The result is a system that unites expressive form, measurable acoustic performance, and environmental accountability.
Obsidian Coloration & Visual CharacterObsidian is a deep, dark charcoal acoustic foam with subtle blue undertones. Depending on lighting conditions, it can range from a rich charcoal gray to a dark navy hue—and when installed in high ceilings or low-light environments, it presents as visually black. The result is an acoustic material that integrates seamlessly into contemporary architecture while delivering the performance Techlite® is known for. For applications requiring an ultimate, rich black appearance, Obsidian panels may be coated utilizing Techlite®’s proprietary paint system.
