Techlite® Triangular Wedge Panels in Obsidian™ are developed for architects, interior designers, and sound engineers who require effective acoustic control paired with a defined geometric aesthetic. Manufactured from Basotect® Ecobalanced Melamine Foam, these panels are designed to reduce mid- and high-frequency reflections while introducing a structured surface profile suited for studios, control rooms, and other acoustically demanding interiors.
The triangular wedge configuration creates a consistent angular pattern that enhances sound absorption while helping to break up direct reflections across treated surfaces. For sound engineers, this results in improved clarity and reduced echo artifacts. For architects, it offers a repeatable system that integrates cleanly into wall layouts. Techlite® Triangular Wedge Panels also support sustainability-focused design objectives. The panels are also Class A fire-rated per ASTM E84, aligning with performance and safety requirements for interior applications.
Obsidian™ Coloration & Visual CharacterObsidian™ is a deep, dark charcoal acoustic foam with subtle blue undertones. Depending on lighting conditions, it can range from a rich charcoal gray to a dark navy hue—and when installed in high ceilings or low-light environments, it presents as visually black. The result is an acoustic material that integrates seamlessly into contemporary architecture while delivering the performance Techlite® is known for. For applications requiring an ultimate, rich black appearance, Obsidian™ panels may be coated utilizing Techlite®’s proprietary paint system.
