The TECHLITE® Designer Corrugated Acoustic Panel in Obsidian introduces a repeating fluted profile that establishes order, depth, and directional emphasis across interior walls and ceilings. Its structured linear ridges create shadow variation and surface articulation, enabling architects and interior designers to incorporate acoustic control into the architectural language of a space. For sound engineers, the alternating peaks and recesses increase surface interaction, supporting effective reverberation management and improved room intelligibility.
Engineered utilizing Basotect® Ecobalanced Melamine Foam, the Corrugated panel provides consistent broadband absorption in a lightweight, dimensionally stable format designed exclusively for interior environments. The open-cell composition mitigates reflected sound energy, enhances clarity, and supports acoustic balance in offices, hospitality interiors, education facilities, and performance-oriented spaces. The material is inherently flame resistant and achieves Class A fire-rated performance per ASTM E 84, aligning with interior life-safety requirements.
From a sustainability perspective, the TECHLITE® Designer Corrugated Acoustic Panel supports responsible material specification. Basotect® Ecobalanced Melamine Foam is produced through a reduced carbon footprint methodology and may contribute toward LEED-related credits, including low-emitting materials and environmentally conscious sourcing strategies. This combination of architectural structure, acoustic precision, and environmental accountability ensures performance without compromise.
Obsidian Coloration & Visual CharacterObsidian is a deep, dark charcoal acoustic foam with subtle blue undertones. Depending on lighting conditions, it can range from a rich charcoal gray to a dark navy hue—and when installed in high ceilings or low-light environments, it presents as visually black. The result is an acoustic material that integrates seamlessly into contemporary architecture while delivering the performance Techlite® is known for. For applications requiring an ultimate, rich black appearance, Obsidian panels may be coated utilizing Techlite®’s proprietary paint system. Sound Absorption
Sound Absorption Testing to ASTM Standard C-348-85 indicates a better than 90% absorption coefficient at a frequency of 2000 Hz when using 2” thick TECHLITE foam. Combined with a Class A fire rating, excellent thermal insulating value, its light weight and low toxicity, TECHLITE is an excellent choice for your application.
