The material is Class A fire-rated per ASTM E 84, supporting life-safety compliance in commercial and institutional applications.

Suspended vertically from ceilings, the round geometry maximizes exposed surface area, allowing sound waves to interact with both faces of the panel. Obsidian Coloration & Visual Character Obsidian is a deep, dark charcoal acoustic foam with subtle blue undertones. Depending on lighting conditions, it can range from a rich charcoal gray to a dark navy hue—and when installed in high ceilings or low-light environments, it presents as visually black. The result is an acoustic material that integrates seamlessly into contemporary architecture while delivering the performance Techlite® is known for. For applications requiring an ultimate, rich black appearance, Obsidian panels may be coated utilizing Techlite®’s proprietary paint system.
